about research publications

Chris Mavrogiannis My name is Chris (Christoforos) Mavrogiannis. I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Washington, working with Prof. Siddhartha Srinivasa.

I received my Ph.D. from Cornell University, where I worked with Prof. Ross A. Knepper on the design of motion planning algorithms for social robot navigation. My work proposes a series of inference and planning mechanisms for social robot navigation, designed according to insights from psychology and sociology and using tools from topology, machine learning and human-robot interaction. For my PhD research, I have been recognized as a best paper award nominee, a HRI Pioneer, a RSS Pioneer, I have been invited to special issues of IJRR and have received press coverage.

Prior to that, I received a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, where I worked with Prof. Kostas J. Kyriakopoulos on the design of grasp planning algorithms for multi-fingered robot hands and on the mechanical design of robotic/prosthetic hands as a member of the open-source initiative OpenBionics. My work was recognized with the Robotdalen International Innovation Award, the Hackaday Prize, and received press coverage. More details about me can be found in my CV.
